Local Government Reorganisation

The government has announced that, from 1 April 2028, seven existing councils across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire are to be replaced by three new unitary councils:

· Ridgeway Council – West Berkshire Council and most of the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse districts

· North Oxfordshire Council – covering most of the existing Cherwell and West Oxfordshire districts

· Greater Oxford Council – covering Oxford and its immediate surroundings

No changes to the border with Reading were proposed as part of the reorganisation.
