Opening of new Parish Council facility at Calcot

The event was hosted by Councillor Clive Taylor, Vice Chairman of Tilehurst Parish Council, and was well attended with guests having been invited from neighbouring parish councils, the old Calcot Community Association, Thames Valley Police, Berkshire Youth, and West Berkshire Council.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees were able to spend some time looking around the facility which has a light, airy hall with a small bar/serving area, as well as a separate kitchen.

The ribbon-cutting was carried out by Councillor Rick Jones, Vice Chairman of West Berkshire Council 2021-22, who also named the new facility the “Jubilee Annexe”; the name chosen following consultation with local residents.

The refurbishment of the annexe at Highview, Calcot, was funded by a £50,000 grant from West Berkshire Council which was match-funded by the Parish Council, and work was completed on schedule at the end of March 2022.
