West Berkshire Council's journey to net zero
Published: 08 November 2022
West Berkshire Council's Environment Strategy Annual Progress Report (July 2021 to July 2022), which helps answer these questions, was presented to the council's Executive meeting on Thursday 3 November.
The reports highlights the 25% reduction in council carbon emissions over the last two years, and provides information about actions and projects focussed on delivering WBC's Environment Strategy across the district.
The report also contains case studies including the School Streets project in Calcot, flood alleviation schemes in Thatcham, and carbon neutral road resurfacing schemes in Beedon, Burghfield and Thatcham. A road map providing highlights of actions and achievements over the past year gives and overview, and there is a "you asked, we did" section showing how the council has been able to respond to suggestions from residents on the subject of active travel.
