The Cowshed

Published: 09 February 2023

The Cowshed is a charity which was established in 2018 and has been fully operational since mid-February 2019. It provides support to people of all backgrounds in a time of personal crisis, and its aim is to provide good quality, cleaned and ironed clothes and other essentials free to anyone in need. The clothes, which are donated by the general public, retailers and manufacturers, are washed and ironed ready to be delivered or collected by social services, health professionals or individuals.

All the clothes donated are used; good quality items are made available for re-use while slightly damaged clothes/bedding are repurposed into items for sale. In this way a variety of clients of all ages and in very different but difficult situations can be helped.

Anyone having a clear-out can drop their donations off at The Cowshed’s distribution centre at Unit 2 Bennet Court, Bennet Road, Reading RG2 0QX. The centre is open from 10.00am to 3.00pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 10.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday.

Further details are available on The Cowshed’s web site.
