New Calcot Integration facility has opened

The brand-new Badgers Hill Integration facility in Calcot was officially opened last week by Heather Codling, West Berkshire Council’s Executive Member for Children, Education and Young People’s Services. Learners at the facility had already started this term in their purpose-built building and new learning environment.

The £2.2 million project funded by West Berkshire Council has seen the Badgers Hill facility completely rebuilt as part of WBC’s alternative provision for young people unable to access mainstream education. Integration is one of six special iCollege-run units run in West Berkshire, which support young people in alternative settings in achieving their highest possible education outcomes, develop a strong positive attitude, develop self-confidence and prepare them for their chosen future.

The old single-storey modular unit with two classrooms was completely removed from site. The new two-storey building has four classrooms, social, office and group spaces, plus environmental elements within the building including photovoltaic (solar) panels and air source heat pumps.
