Lift installation at Tilehurst Station

Published: 16 January 2024

Work will soon be starting to make Tilehurst Station step-free by installing lifts and improving safety for passengers.

The lifts will be installed on the existing station footbridge, and a new walkway will be created to improve safety and accessibility to the lifts.

On Tuesday 30 January, the project team and Great Western Railway will be at the station between 4.00pm and 6.00pm to discuss the project with nearby residents and passengers.

The contractors will start setting up their site compound in late January.  The work will be carried out over a combination of day and night shifts and is due to start in late January/early February and be completed by late 2024.

There will be times when a crane will be required and this will be scheduled for Saturday nights in order to limit disruption to the local community, the railway and passengers.
