Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading

Published: 22 July 2024

As part of the government’s New Hospital Programme, the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is looking at options for rebuilding or relocating a new Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Two possible sites for relocating the hospital have been identified. Before proceeding too far, the Trust would like to understand the impact on staff, patients and the overall community, including residents and businesses, of moving the facility away from its current town centre location.

The two potential sites (shown on the map) are:

Thames Valley Park at the end of the A329M – 2.2 miles north east of the current site between East Reading and Woodley

Thames Valley Science Park – 3.7 miles south east of the current site, off the M4 near Shinfield
