E-scooters and e-bikes
Published: 24 September 2024
Recently, Thames Valley Police released statistics to show that, since 1 June 2024, 118 e-scooters and illegal e-bikes have been seized; 21 of these seizures took place in September.
It is illegal to ride a privately owned e-scooter in public places, including on the road and pavement. Anyone found to be doing this risks receiving a large fine, points on their driving licence, and seizure of their e-scooter.
E-bikes must comply with legislation to be legal, and the rider must be over 14 years old. More information about e-bikes is available on the government’s web site.
Further details about the seizures may be found on the Thames Valley Police web site.
