With increasing demand on household income and the removal
of the Winter Fuel Allowance, there is growing concern for the welfare of vulnerable
residents. West Berks Foodbank has trained
advisors who are able to support with emergency gas and electricity top-ups,
signposting, food education and referrals.
It is partnered with Sovereign Housing, Recovery in Mind, and Samaritans as well as Homestart, Citizens Advice and West Berkshire Action for Refugees.
West Berks Foodbank is open from 1.00pm to 3.00pm on weekdays as follows:
Monday - Calcot
Tuesday - Newbury
Wednesday - Hungerford
Thursday - Thatcham
Friday - Burghfield and Newbury
The foodbank is run on a voucher referral system. This means anyone needing help will need a voucher issued by a local agency, such as Citizens Advice, children’s centres or health visitor. Alternatively, the Hardship Helpline should be called for help.
