Policing budget for 2026/27

Published: 19 November 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley, Matthew Barber, is inviting residents to complete a local crime survey and share their views on the priority areas they would like to see the policing element of council tax used for in 2026/27.

Although the government announced last week that it intends abolishing the PCC role, the transition to a new model will not take place before 2028. Until then, it remains the PCC’s statutory duty to set the policing budget and to with engage residents on how the precept is spent.

The survey will be open until 12.00 noon on Friday 2 January 2026.
