Government's urgent dental care scheme
Published: 22 January 2026
West Berkshire residents are now able to access more urgent dental appointments as part of the government’s urgent dental care scheme, which aims to provide faster care for those in pain or discomfort. Under the scheme, urgent cases will be seen within 24 hours, non-urgent within seven days.
Anyone needing urgent dental treatment should call NHS 111 or visit the BOB ICB webpage, which will direct them to the nearest available dental practice.
The scheme also supports those who struggle to access routine care, including people who haven’t seen a dentist for two years, new residents, pregnant or nursing mothers and others with specific needs.
